Meymuna Hussein-Cattan is an Ethiopian refugee, who along with her mother Owliya Dima co-founded The Tiyya Foundation, which serves more than 250 families annually in Orange and Los Angeles counties through various programs designed to support refugee children and their families.

Born in an Ethiopian refugee camp in Somalia in 1980, Meymuna and her parents settled in Southern California as refugees in 1984. Inspired by their families struggles with resettling, Meymuna and her mother started volunteering to assist new refugees with the challenging process of relocating. In 2010, both women co-founded the Tiyya Foundation supporting Southern California refugees.
