WEAPONIZATION OF WOMEN:
WORKING TOWARDS INALIENABLE RIGHTS

PANEL DISCUSSION

First-generation American Muslims who fled tyranny, lack of freedom or lack of equal opportunity in their ancestral homes — whether it be Pakistan, India, Syria, Egypt, Iraq, or Iran — do not take democracy for granted. They know first-hand how fragile democracy really is and how quickly it can be lost if not properly preserved.

MPAC recently published an OpEd in the Chicago Sun Times that outlined our views from an American Muslim perspective as to what the MAGA movement symbolizes to us. And the fact that, if this movement remains unchecked and unaccounted for -- it poses one of the most serious existential threats to America itself, since our very founding. At MPAC, beginning with Trump’s initial candidacy for President in 2015 all the way through his campaign and subsequent election as President and its aftermath -- we have also become acutely aware as to what his movement means for the rights of all American women, in general.

While the MAGA movement and the overall toxic conservative politics of hate pose a threat to all of America’s minority communities – the brunt of their hateful force has most immediately and most profoundly landed on American women.

We will discuss key action steps that can be deployed on an individual and collective basis to beat back the current tidal wave of injustices being heaped upon American women.
