M. Faiyaz Hussain is a corporate attorney and litigator who most recently worked in senior global positions for pharmaceutical companies such as Abbott Labs and Baxter Healthcare where he led various teams and investigations into matters involving white collar crime, anti-corruption and healthcare-related anti-kickback provisions in the US, Europe, Russia, China and India. Faiyaz started his legal career back in 2001 working for the international law firm of Winston & Strawn LLP – one of our nation’s premier law firms. 

Faiyaz is passionate about volunteering his time towards efforts that ensure a world where equality, liberty, and justice are guaranteed for all.  He has been engaged in multiple pro bono efforts over his career starting with securing political asylum for a student facing persecution in his native country of Eritrea due to his Christian faith. Early on in his career, Faiyaz also led a team of lawyers in filing an amicus brief on behalf of a Palestinian American before the U.S. Supreme Court on a key immigration matter. He is also an expert on corporate employment-law and discrimination mattes. Faiyaz remains very involved in local and national politics and in educating Muslim community leaders on not-for-profit governance best practices including serving on various Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago-related civic engagement committees.

Most recently Faiyaz has been serving as a Senior Advisor to the Muslim Public Affairs Council, a national nonprofit organization, based out of Washington D.C. and Los Angeles, that works to promote and strengthen American pluralism by increasing understanding and improving government policies and regulations that impact American Muslims. Faiyaz also previously served on the Board of Muslim Advocates -- a national legal and advocacy organization that works on the frontlines of American civil rights.  Faiyaz lives in Chicago with his wife and two kids.
